MIAMI TOWER CLOUD GARDEN + SKY LOBBY

Using clouds as an inspiration, KOKO reimagined the public spaces in I.M. Pei’s iconic Miami Tower with a series of innovative and adaptive meeting places in both the Cloud Garden and Sky Lobby. KOKO used this opportunity to challenge and expand the notions of what shared spaces in a modern office environment could be, and to create new venues for renewed social interactions.

When they were first approached by Sumitomo for the renovation of the 1980’s Miami Tower building, KOKO took visual inspiration from the vibrant skyscapes of Florida for the shapes and colors of the Cloud Garden and Sky Lobby. The fluid design of the Cloud Garden adapts easily to accommodate a range of social and business interactions, from an intimate lunchtime gathering to a super-sized catered corporate event. The Cloud Garden incorporates three service bars, banquette seating, a 1700 square foot commercial kitchen and a private conference room that seats twenty.

The furniture, material palette and soft curves of the Sky Lobby all combine to create a flowing and conducive atmosphere for social connections and introductions, creating a timely new stage for public events in downtown Miami.
